A new guide ‘Creating healthier places and spaces for our present and future generations‘ has recently been published by Public Health Wales. It has been created to support Public Services Boards, public bodies, cross sector organisations and individuals take forward actions that address and enhance the health and well-being opportunities afforded by the natural and built environment. Developed with input from Natural Resources Wales, the guide provides background information, summarises some of the relevant evidence, proposes actions for implementation at strategic and operational level and signposts to further useful resources across six priority areas:
- The walking and cycling infrastructure
- Open green / blue spaces and green infrastructure
- The food growing and retail environment
- Community, health and social care services provided from local facilities
- Low levels of air pollution
- Building design
The front cover image illustrates and highlights possible actions and can be used as a reminder and summary.
